Adult Teams & Leagues
IntraClub Leagues: These leagues require advance registration and membership. Men's Singles League Players are grouped by ability level and assigned an opponent from their group for each week of the session. Matches are played at the same time each week, and a can of balls is included. The top players in each group are awarded a prize at the end of the session. Women's Singles Flex League Players are grouped by ability level and assigned an opponent from their group for each week of the session. Match time is arranged by the two players. Prizes are awarded at the end of the session to the top players in each group. InterClub Leagues: Women's B Teams This is an interclub travel league that competes against other area clubs. To participate in this weekday league, a current United States Tennis Association (USTA) rating is required. The B-1 team (4.0-4.5) practices and plays on Fridays. B-2 (3.5) players practice on Tuesdays and play on Fridays, while the B-3 team (2.5-3.0) practices and plays on Thursdays. Great Lakes League Teams We field both men's and women's Great Lakes travel teams at all levels. Each match consists of two courts of singles and three courts of doubles, and players do not require a USTA rating. Matches are played within a two-hour period on Saturdays. There is a Saturday at noon coed practice for 3.0 - 4.0 level players. Men's Level I (open) practices Tuesday evenings. USA League Tennis (Summer Only) The United States Tennis Association sponsors a national recreational tennis league each summer, and allows for players of various ages and skill levels. Liberty typically hosts more than 25 teams to compete in the league. Men and women's teams are available for 2.5 players (limited experience) through the Open (very experienced) level, as well as senior's and mixed doubles teams. The USTA season runs from May thru July. Most practices and matches are held on weekday evenings. Teams often carpool to 'away' matches, and organize munchies for 'home' matches. If you are interested in playing, or for more information, please contact Mary Beth Putnam in Tennis Administration by calling (734) 665-3738 ext 43. Be sure to review our policies related to these programs. |
